Research Interests: Old and Middle English, early Irish and Welsh, Old Norse, and Anglo-Latin languages and literatures; and literary and linguistic interactions throughout the British Isles.

Education: B.A. in English from University of Illinois-Urbana/Champaign; M.A. in English from Southern Illinois University; Ph.D. in English from the University of Mississippi (in progress)

Background: Primarily interested in language and literature, Brian’s educational history includes training in diverse fields such as the art and material culture of the Late Antiquity through the Viking Age, codicology, historical linguistics, and poetics, as well as reading knowledge in several languages of the medieval British Isles.

Projects and Involvement: Brian is currently working on recovering unreadable text from the Vercelli Book.
